Shahpurkandi Fort

The Shahpur Kandi Fort, named after Shah Jahan, nestles on the banks of the Ravi River in the picturesque foothills of the Himalayas. Located on the outer periphery of Pathankot, It was built in 16th century at a distance of about 7 km from Pathankot ( a little north of Madhopur), and stands surrounded by outstanding natural beauty. A part of the fort functions as a rest house today.

Shahpurkandi Fort

Shahpur Kandi is a strategic fort famous in Punjab as a hanging rest house which is one of its kind and worth a visit. Shahpur Kandi fort lies on the banks of Ravi River and is famous for its impressive view. The fort is transformed into a lovely rest house by the authorities to promote tourism. Shahpur Kandi is a link between Jammu & Kashmir and the rest of India. On the way to Shahpur Kandi, there are some caves of the period of Mahabharata that are believed to be visited by Pandavas during their “Agayatwas”(exile).
