Poster showing Mayawati as Goddess Kali riles BJP

A poster of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati depicting her as Goddess Kali slaying Union Minister Smriti Irani with Prime Minister Narendra Modi shown in a miniature form has surfaced here, triggering a blame game between political rivals in Uttar Pradesh.

While BSP denied that it has any association with the controversial poster, BJP leaders lodged a complaint seeking action against those responsible.

At Ambedkar Shobha Yatra

The poster, which also carries the names of those who have issued it, was part of the tableau being taken out in Sadabad town on Sunday evening during Ambedkar Shobha Yatra to mark his 125th birth anniversary.

The district administration, which took notice of the poster, got it removed from the yatra promptly.

District unit president of BSP Dinesh Deshmukh, when contacted, said that as soon as it was brought to his notice, he got it removed.

BJP submits memo to SP

Meanwhile, BJP leaders of the district took offence to the poster and led by their district president Ramvir Singh met Superintendent of Police Ajaypal Sharma and submitted a memorandum demanding lodging of a case against those putting up the poster as well as the convener of the shobha yatra.

The SP said that the matter was being probed.

Two people, whose names are mentioned in the poster, are said to be block level leaders of the BSP.

BJP’s poster no better

Recently, a poster depicting Uttar Pradesh BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya as Krishna and opposition leaders as Kauravas, had appeared in Varanasi.
