Set in either the 1950s or 1960s, Panchlait tells the story of a small village in North India that still has no electricity and its people live in darkness.
Bollywood is all set for an interesting book adaptation – Phanishwar Nath Renu’s Film will soon see a silver screen version. Actor Brijendra Kala leads the cast of the film, titled Panchlait. Directed by Prem Prakash Modi, Film promises an endearing story.
Panchlait stars Kala along with Amitosh Nagpal, Anuradha Mukherjee, Rajesh Sharma, Ravi Jhankal, Pranay Narayan, Malini Sengupta, Nayna Bandhopadhyay, Uma Basu and Arunima Ghosh.
Set in a rural backdrop, Panchlait is the story of a village where electricity connection has not reached yet and a new invention brings light to the lives of the residents. Patromax, or panchlait in the vernacular language, is an LPG light that proves to be a better version of the traditional lantern.
The first look of the film was released on October 11.
