If there is one thing that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is known for, apart from her exceptional acting skills and drop-dead gorgeous looks, is her bold and sassy attitude. Be it her unconventional choice of films or her honest and unapologetic statements, her bold attitude has always reflected in her all walks of life.
And her recent move is perhaps the boldest, at least, in terms of Bollywood standards. When most young actresses today would shy away from playing characters beyond 30 years old onscreen, Kangana has made jaws drop by announcing that she would play an 80-year-old in her directorial debut — Teju.
“Yes, I will play an 80-year-old woman in my first directorial, Teju,” Kangana confirmed in an interview.
Kangana, who is in her early 30s, added, “Teju will be about every old person I know and have loved. It will also be a lot about me as I am older than my years. Today, unless I step out of my comfort zone, challenge myself as an actress, where is the need for me to leave my home, my family, and my dog? I can live in comfort by simply cutting ribbons.”
Well, that’s not all, Kangana has made another bold decision lately. During the poster launch of her next film — Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Kangana told the media that she would quit acting and would rather focus on filmmaking. The actress said, “I feel my life has come a full circle and before this, no amount of failure or success could make me feel like an achiever. So now I think I shouldn’t waste much time going in a loop and that I move on to the next space which means that I will focus on my career as a filmmaker and if I act, I act in my own films.”
