Winter is well and truly upon us, and with the Met department saying that December is going to be a chilly and gloomy month, that means it’s time to cover up. But how do you put together a winter wardrobe without shelling out loads of cash to buy woolies?
Simple -just use your summer wardrobe and make a few additions to it. We show you how…
LAYER, LAYER, LAYER
A typical summer ensemble -like jeans and a tee -can be transformed into a winter look just by layering. Get a jacket -leather and denim are all-time favourites -and a scarf, and you’re set. Tip: Stick to pastel shades for winter.
WEAR TIGHTS
Take a summer staple like a floral dress and make it winter wear by just pairing it with tights or pantyhose. You can wear heels with it if you like, but can even slip on boots to give the look a bigger winter touch.
KEEP WEARING MAXI DRESSES
Maxi dresses are usually worn in the summer, but you can wear them when the weather’s colder too. Add a scarf and a belt to give your outfit a little more definition. If it’s nippy, you can wear tights under the dress.
WEAR SOCKS WITH HEELS
This is a great way to wear skirts through winter. Any length of socks works -whether they’re ankle-high or over-the-knee. Complete the winter look by wearing a sweater with the skirt.
