Honda car sales dip in August 2016

The month of August has been damp for the Japanese car maker as Honda Cars managed to sell 13,941 units as compared to the 15,655 units sold in August last year. As the year on year sales have dipped by almost 11 per cent, Honda also missed matching July 2016 sales by just 92 units. On the brighter side, Honda was ranked number three on the Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) study undertaken by J.D. Power for 2016.

The hatchbacks seem to be doing well for Honda with the sales of the Jazz and the Brio up as compared to the previous month. The Jazz is selling steadily over 3,500 units every month. Honda BR-V was expected to keep the volumes running but managed to sell only 2,229 units, almost 33 per cent lower as compared to last month. The City and the Amaze sedans sales also have been steady at about 4300 units and 2400 units respectively. The Amaze sales were expected to pick up after the launch of the facelifted car but seems to have garnered lukewarm response.

Honda has imported the diesel variant of the CR-V for homologation and if the rumours are to be believed, even the Civic might make a comeback. The Accord hybrid is also in the pipeline and may help Honda get back to growing ways in the future.
