Depending on the moon, Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest festival of Mulsims, will be celebrated on July 18 or 19 in India. On the eve of Eid, Muslims greet each other with Eid cards. But the tradition of sending cards is now becoming an old trend. Muslims now prefer sending Eid Mubarak SMS or messages on social media like WhatsApp and Facebook to express Eid wishes to friends and relatives. Even the non-Muslims also greet and extend their well wishes for Eid festival through these Eid Mubarak messages.
Eid comes after the holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims observe fast. Fasting in Ramadan, also known as ‘Roza’, is the fourth of the five pillars of Islam and is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity. The Eid celebration begins at the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.
