Civilian, two army men injured in grenade attack in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara

At least three people were injured in a grenade attack by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara town of Anantnag district on Saturday.

Local residents said two army men and a civilian were injured in the attack. Army spokesman NN Joshi said two soldiers had got wounded in the attack and they have been rushed to army hospital in Srinagar.

A police officer confirmed that a civilian had also been wounded besides the two army men.

Locals said that the grenade was tossed in the chowk near the Bijbehara police station. “Following the grenade attack, there were some firing shots as well,” they said.

The police station is located on Srinagar-Jammu highway and remains very busy throughout the day.

Security forces personnel often remain stationed in the chowk. Soon after getting the information, the police officials had rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
