The Maruti Vitara Brezza compact SUV has received an overwhelming response from across the country, and recorded over 5,600 bookings within 2 days of launch. The vehicle is now reported to have a waiting period of up to 2 months, as its production got affected due to agitation in Haryana. With premium styling, efficient engine and affordable pricing, the Maruti Vitara Brezza not only attracts urban buyers, but receives commendable response from tier II and tier III cities as well.
The Maruti Brezza can be booked at a token amount of Rs. 21,000, while deliveries will be made from March 21, 2016. The Maruti Vitara Brezza is offered in total of 7 variants across three trim levels that are priced between Rs. 6.99 lakh – Rs. 9.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price, the Maruti Brezza sub-compact SUV will lock horns with products like Mahindra TUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
The 98% localization of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza has helped the Indo-Japanese carmaker to price the vehicle competitively, and undercut its rivals. Unlike the S-Cross crossover and Baleno premium hatchback, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is being sold through regular Maruti Suzuki dealerships across the nation. Positioned below the S-Cross premium crossover, the Vitara Brezza is Maruti’s first ever sub-4 meter compact SUV in the country. Just so you know, the vehicle first broke cover at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in the first week of February.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is also the first product from the Indo-Japanese carmaker that has been developed entirely in India from the ground up by its in-house R&D team led by CV Raman, Executive Director, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki. All the decisions and judgements on the Maruti Brezza were taken by Maruti’s Indian R&D team with no validation from the parent company based out of Japan. The vehicle has been, conceptualised, designed and developed within three and half years, informs the company.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is being made available in seven variants spread across three trims – LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, ZDi+ and ZDi+ (dual tone) – all powered by a 1.3-litre, 89bhp, diesel engine. This powertrain has been borrowed from the company’s mid-sized sedan Ciaz. With compact and lighter body-built, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is claimed to return an impressive mileage of 24.3kmpl. Transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Though, an AMT unit might come as an option at a later stage. The vehicle’s higher trim ZDi comes loaded with Smartplay infotainment with CarPlay, inbuilt navigation with Mapcare, reverse parking camera and cruise control with steering mounted controls. All these infotainment features are also available on other new-age Maruti Suzuki cars in India including the S-Cross and the Baleno.
The base variant of the Vitara Brezza, LDi, comes equipped with an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, speed sensitive door locks and driver airbag protection along with an additional SUV body-kit. While the optional and higher variants are exclusively available with passenger airbag and ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution).
