Haryana agriculture minister OP Dhankhar had to face an awkward situation when he went to meet the family members of two victims of the Jat quota stir in Jhajjar on Sunday.

As per sources, Dhankar had decided to visit the families of the riot victims around 10.30am, but he reached at 8.30am. The families did not let him in.

Dhankar told reporters that the people are angry due to the recent violence. He, however, appealed to the people to maintain peace in the state and held a meeting of people of different communities.

The minister said society was bigger than politics and people should help the government restore peace and fraternity in society.

“The state government has decided to compensate the affected families and the work to disburse compensation has already started,” he added.

BJP may seek CBI investigation

Many MLAs will raise a demand an investigation by the CBI or setting up a judicial commission on the violence during the Jat agitation in Haryana, at the BJP legislature party meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi on Monday.

Several ministers and MLAs HT talked to said they were in favour of getting the stir investigated by the CBI. They said the quota issue, legal obstacles and social impact of the same would be discussed at the Monday meeting which will be chaired by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
