Jaguar XE

The new Jaguar XE has been launched in the country at a starting price of Rs. 39.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The launch event took place at the Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. Set to rival the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the XE is the most affordable offering from the British luxury carmaker. This luxury sedan will be imported in India via CKD (completely knocked down) route, and then assembled locally at JLR’s production facility in Pune.

Jaguar is known for making ultra-luxury and high end premium cars and the XJ and XF been the best example for the same. Now, with the growing demand for luxury cars, specifically the entry level sports segment, Jaguar is also aiming to mark its presence in this segment which is dominated by the Audi A4, the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Jaguar XE India Price

This sports saloon is the most affordable Jaguar in India that is priced at Rs. 39.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant.

Jaguar’s XE is the first car based on all-new aluminum-intensive monocoque architecture in its league. The same platform will also underpin the future Jaguars. The new scalable aluminum architecture is exceptionally light that also makes it highly-advanced and refined sports saloon in its segment. The engine is mounted longitudinally that drives the rear or all four wheels.

Unlike its rivals, Jaguar’s new XE comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that is tuned for two states of power – 197bhp and 237bhp. Transmission duties are taken care of by an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The saloon also hosts a bunch of comfort and safety features such as Softgrain Windsor leather seats, navigation system, surround camera system, 380-watts Meridian sound system, All surface progress control, etc.

Jaguar XE India Exterior

The XE looks like the shorter version of XF and the flagship XJ. This sedan features a rectangular grille with mesh grille inserts which is complemented by the slender headlights. The front bumper looks identical to the XF, but it is shorter in length.

The side profile, too, looks familiar with sloping/rake roof line, flared wheel arches, and sewage line runs across the length. At the rear, the vehicle gets roof-mounted spoiler, while the tail lamp assembly and chrome strip is smaller in size than that of Jaguar XF. It will also get a dual exhaust system.

Jaguar XE India Interior & Features

Like its exteriors, the interior of the XE is largely inspired from its larger siblings. To make it price competitive, the company cut down some of the high end features. The Jaguar XE range starts with the ‘SE’ trim which is equipped with 17-inch rims, satellite navigation, DAB Audio, multi-functional steering wheel with leather cover, glossy black trim and a pair of 17-inch alloy wheels.

The mid-level ‘Prestige’ trim, additionally, gets heated leather front seats with contrasting stitches blue ambient lightning and brushed aluminum inserts. The range-topping ‘Portfolio’ trim is loaded with Windsor leather, bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, dual-tone instrument panel, Meridian sound system, 10-way electrically adjustable front seats, etc. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 18-inch alloy wheels.

Jaguar XE India Engine and Transmission
